This place is an absolute gem. We visited whilst on holiday and the food was amazing!!! It was the best gluten free fish and chips we have had, and believe me, we've tried a few!! The halloumi was so delicious and the Easter egg cheesecake for pudding was sooo good. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit!!

Down in Looe on holiday, and we ordered had haddock, cod, chips and their home made tartar sauce. The service was friendly and wonderful and everything was cooked fresh. We can honestly say that the food was exemplary and the best fish and chips we had all had for a very long time. We would very much recommend Ben's plaice to anyone wanting amazing service and food

Fantastic fish and chip shop - delivers fantastic food every visit! Lovely light crispy batter on the fish, perfectly cooked chips, and plenty of choice if you like to mix things up. We had cod and haddock a large chips for the 2 of us. Cooked to order and always a friendly service. There's loads of seating to wait (or eat in I assume?).

I went to looe as a holiday, I came into bens plaice to compare it to Cody shack. And was I shocked the food was amazing, service was excellent and I noticed they offered many gluten free options which is perfect for my preference. Overall I would definitely recommend and come back soon!

After going to Looe from Redruth for the day especially to sample a fish lunch in Ben's Plaice, it was truly worth all the effort. We had read some very positive reviews about them and wanted to see for ourselves. Both our meals had beautifully cooked fish coated in a very tasty golden batter and the crunchiest chips we've had, we were not disappointed. My wife had Haddock and chips and I had Hake and chips as I always prefer the stronger flavour that Hake has when it's on a menu, the slice of lemon was a nice touch too, offered to all. Ben's have very friendly and knowledgeable staff that greet you; kindly explaining their cooking ethos if you just take the time to ask. The fish and chips were both gluten free as all the food they serve there was. Neither of us require this, it's just provided for everyone. From memory they can also accommodate a coeliac diet, so please ask them, they will gladly tell you I'm sure. The fish bar itself is not in the town centre, but further out as a quick online location check will show. We walked there with the aid of Google maps, so it was a bit of a trek from the harbour, but we were not disappointed in the least. There is ample seating inside and out if you don't want a takeaway, with proper metal cutlery provided, not the tiny wooden fork you tend to see elsewhere. Once our waistlines have subsided sufficiently, I'm sure we will be back.

All my work colleagues told me this is the best fish n chips.... They were right. The fish was beautifully cooked and real potato chips were also fried to perfection... Not at all greasy, nicely packaged for transportation home. Excellent choice on the menu *subject to availability... But one would expect that. Reasonably priced too.

Ok people, so to get to this place you have to drive our of looe and travel a short distance to barbican road!!! Make the journey folks, you will not be disappointed!! Hubby and myself went for the large cod and medium chips. Cooked to perfection, gorgeous crispy batter, perfectly cooked chips and most importantly cooked fresh. A warm, friendly welcome and will definitely be visiting this little gem of a fish and chip shop again.

I've been waiting to visit Ben's Plaice since they opened! Heard great reviews, and seen gorgeous photos on Facebook. Tonight, we visited and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Super friendly and helpful staff, and freshly cooked food. The selection of food available on the specials board is impressive, as I've never seen so much choice in a chippy before. Keep up the great work, and we look forward to trying out other dishes next time we pop in!
